Upcoming trends for 2015 | Denver Wedding Photographer

So its very hard to predict what will be in trend five years from now and even what will be next year especially here in Denver. Now I am not putting Denver down but as a Denver wedding photographer and understanding fashion photography to some degree, Denver is not really popular with fashion. If you would like fashion you would need to go to Milan, Paris, London, or even to New York for latest trends, but I will still give out my best advice not only to Denver but to everyone who is looking for what to expect.

Denver Wedding Photographer

For most part of what I see designers are doing is off the shoulder necklines more of cap-sleeves look. This is a good thing, because some brides don’t really want strapless or shoulder wedding dress and this could be a nice medium for them.

Wedding Photography for Denver

Also and I have mentioned this in previous post but the trend is still going strong, I’m talking about color. From the fashion show in NY for upcoming Spring 2015 collections lots of designers are introducing color mostly blues, grays and even light green. For me personally I would love to see brides to pick up on this and not being shy of going away from white.

Need of Wedding Photographer in Denver?

This one has been around but is picking up more and more it is modern minimalism. I do have to say I personally like the styles that I have seen for this because it’s very sleek, modern and nothing to fancy but the look is gorgeous.

And finally but not least collars are now being introduced again. This help brides to show of the neck line and also to create an illusion of longer neckline.

Now I know this is just four points but in reality there a much more that has been happening in trends for 2015, but with that said not all will make it to next year because well, they are way out there and I am sure that every day bride will not want it. Another pointer to make is about places like David’s Bridal, yes they have lots of dresses but they don’t set the standard at all. All they do is sell what is most sellable and profit to them, so if you are a bride look for shops that will actually listen to you and create a dress that you want not what the shop tells you.

Pinterest For Planning a Wedding | Denver Wedding Photographer

Denver Wedding and Portrait PhotographerSo this is not new or mind blowing but I would like to talk about Pinterest. Lots of brides these days use Pinterest to help them with ideas for the wedding. Online planning is nothing new and it has been blown out of proportion now a days in every direction from such places as Pinterest, Instagram, Wedding Wire and much, much more sites. Don’t forget Facebook and Twitter. It is just overwhelming of information for many brides and if they spend too much time researching those sites sometimes they just go nuts.

Seriously, I had one bride sending me an email of not just Pinterest board (by the way it was five different boards) but also with links to Instagram, blogs, and other websites to show me what she wanted. I don’t mind that, I appreciate the effort that the bride has put in to see what is out there for her own wedding but when it comes to photography its a different conversation.

Lots of brides these days find inspiration from Pinterest but one aspect that most of them forget is that pinterest should be used for inspiration only. I am not talking about how to arrange flowers or any other decor but more about photography of the couple. Let me explain more on this.

One bride send me a link with a statement in the email saying that “this is the photos I want”. This is where the bride went wrong. Not that she crossed me but if she found photos that she likes why doesn’t she just book the photographer that took those photos? Brides, when they see photos of inspiration for the style of photography (and poses) one thing they don’t know is that there is a secret that we photographer sometimes use. It is called stateged photos, now with that said not all photos are staged but a lot of them are. To be honest even I do that, why? Well because wedding is not the time to state lights, location, timing of the day and everything else. Now with that I do make my timeline with the couples for their wedding but even with that I am not in control of the time the wedding should be or location. Lots of photographer find models that can pose correctly, best locations, best time of the day and the final product look incredible (just as an image above).

Yet as I mentioned before, not always we as photographer do all of that sometime the photos do come out beautiful at the day of the real wedding but for most part they are staged. We try to show what we can do if the couple gives us time and lets us organize the wedding photos for them. So do use Pinterest for your wedding day but don’t forget every photographer has his/her own style, and use it as inspirational or of what you would like to see but don’t expect your photographer to just copy the image and past you in them.

Sometimes We All Need A Different Perspective | Denver Wedding Photographer

Blog Devils Thumb-4

Last week was busy, and I mean very busy. So it was very good to get way and shoot something else from what I do day to day. I have a very good friend whom I have got to know a long time ago when I use to attend PSU at State College, Pennsylvania. By the way his name is Jeff, and we became very good friend over the time and funny thing is that he is originally from Colorado so it was good to see him and take a breather “in some words”. We have been planning to take a hike up the mountains for sometime but at the weekend that we had big plans we both got sick and it was postponed for the end of September. It was really good that we moved the date because the weather was perfect, it was beautiful to see all the Aspens turning yellow, and it wasn’t as crowded with other hikers. But most of all it was good to get out and photograph something different, it was refreshing to point my camera, to see the gorgeous mountains and Aspens. I would like to say that this is not my best work, and I should blame the 11,000 feet elevation because my brain was not really functioning properly and also lack of food. But in the end it is very good to get out and do something different to keep yourself refreshed from day to day job. Yet here is a small preview of some photos that I have taken there at the Devils Thumb trail.

To Have Kids or Not | Denver Wedding Photograper

This is very interesting subject, because it can make some people enjoy your wedding or it would be just another stressful event, or even make your schedule of what time the wedding should start. Why am I talking about this well because recently me and my family have attended a wonderful wedding, where my 2 years old daughter was the flower girl. Did I enjoy the wedding? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Was it also little bit stressful because my daughter was there? Yes, at some point she was bored or just tired and putt a long fights with me and my wife. I will also have to say that the wedding was a late evening event and that could play a big roll in that.

But what am I trying to say is this, I have came across this wonderful article from a local boutique shop here in Denver and I just though this is great. I mean I could write something similar from all the experience that I have at being at all the wedding that I have shoot, but I think this blog post does the best job at it.

Jeremy and Allison Wedding Photos | Denver Wedding Photographer

In late June this year I had an opportunity to photograph a wedding of a wonderful couple Jeremy and Allison. The gorgeous wedding happened at Green Valley Country Club which only amplified the beauty and the happiness of this couple at the day of their wedding. I loved being part of their wedding and experiencing the happiness, excitement, and the love that Jeremy and Allison had for each other at their wedding. Their bridal party was a lot of fun to photograph and be be around. I loved that Jeremy’s dad was the priest and the sermon that he gave during their ceremony, in my books it was really good. Their wedding reception was just rocking out of this world thanks to the DJ “The E-Team”, and its is sad that the time flew so fast that day but their wedding was a blast.

Yet I would like to talk more about Jeremy and Allison, because something that I like to do is ask couples questions not only for me but so the readers of this blog site would know a bit more about the couple. So without any other delays here’s what Jeremy and Allison shared with me.

Allison, how did you guys meet? And what made you fall in love with Jeremy?

Jeremy and I met at a bowling alley. I saw a group of guys and thought, “Oh he’s cute! I’m gonna talk to that one!” From the very start Jeremy and my relationship has been so easy and fun. It was easy to fall in love with his accepting and loving personality. Neither of us ever questioned how much the other cared from them. We always seem to be in sync. Plus who could not love that smile!

Jeremy what made you fall in love with Allison?

She has a wonderful personality and very similar if not same family value. Lastly and most of all she is beautiful!

How did you feel Jeremy waiting on Allison right before she walked down the aisle?

I was very excited. Not nervous at all because I know she is right for me.

How did you feel Allison walking down the aisle?

Just before coming out to the aisle I was nervous and a little irritated my DJ had messed up and I didn’t want to be crying in all my photos. The moment I stepped outside and saw Jeremy all I could see was that amazing smile! Then there was just this rush of excitement and love!

Which part of the wedding was most favorite for you guys?

Jeremy: See my beautiful wife walking the aisle toward me. And I get to see my old family and old friends, who are from out of state.

Allison: My favorite part of the wedding was our first dance. Jeremy and I had practiced a small routine for months and we pulled it off perfectly. It felt good to impress everyone and show what a good team we make.

If you guys would give any advice to the future brides and grooms, what would it be?

Jeremy: 1 – If you love her, don’t be nervous on the wedding day! 2 – Have as much fun as possible, because the wedding is one time thing … unless you plan on getting married few time!

Allison: The advice I would give would be from some advice I heard while planning and stressing about my own wedding. Your wedding, while important, is just a party. As long as at the end of the day you are married to the person you love, everything was perfect! Oh and hire Stan to do your photos because mine were perfect!!!
