The Not Pretty Home by Sacramento Real Estate Photographer Shutter Avenue Photography

We have all seen those picture perfect homes and I as a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer I do like them too. Yes those are the homes that get the most attention. See image above for example. But that’s not the case with most homes. Even in my line of duty I photograph the good and not so good homes. Being Sacramento Real Estate Photographer I get to photograph both of the spectrum. In reality most of the agents that I work with do rely on me to make ok homes to look really good. Yes I do photograph million dollar homes, or homes that have been staged by professionals, and I am sure that every agent want’s that. The truth is, not all homes are ready for photos and that’s why it is my job to make them look good. Yet sometime I get homes like the one below, really downright bad.

So use the slider to see how I have photographed a bad home and made it look a bit better than it is. With that said I didn’t really do lots of photoshopping in this home. I mean there is mold, and extremely dirty carpet, and walls that you just don’t even want to touch. At one point I thought “Covid-19 has nothing on this home, I need a full body suit just to be in there”. But as a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer it is my job to photograph this home because that’s why I was hired to do, to make it look better than it is.

By the way I am not bashing the agent here, every agent out there had or has a home that is not pretty at all and still has to sell it somehow. So it is up-to photographer to do his/her job and that’s why hiring professional Sacramento Real Estate Photographer is so important for great homes and not.

Also all that I am showing here is an average metering exposure image from my camera and what I have done to the photo.

Two Homes But Different Impact by Sacramento Real Estate Photographer

Sacramento Real Estate Photographer by Shutter Avenue Photography

As a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer I wanted to comeback to one topic which does pop-up once in a while. It’s nothing major but as you can see the photo above it does make all the difference not only in photos but in the sale of the home. There was another post which I have written some time ago (link here) regarding this topic but this time it’s different. Now I know this has happened to me quite a lot in the passed and I am sure it will in the future but the difference between two homes is there. What am I talking about? Well good thing you asked. There are times when I get to photograph a home which is 95% simural to the one that I have already photographed for a different agents. Yes it could be in the same neighborhood or even across town but it does happen especially with the new development homes (well not really new but anything from 30 years ago to current). The layout of the home would be almost exactly the same but one thing is different is of course the furniture and wall colors.

Take a look at the comparison images below and you will see the difference in not only the images but appearance of the home when the home has more neutral interior colors. Yes I understand that every homeowner (seller) has it’s own preferences and wants to make the home feel like it’s their own. But as a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer I see this quite a lot when homes have interesting interior colors and the homeowner doesn’t want to understand that they are selling the home. Anyways I don’t want to bore someone to death with this topic but I will say when the home is properly ready for photography it does make all the differance. So see for yourself:

Rainy Weather by Sacramento Real Estate Photographer (Shutter Avenue Photography)

This past week we had been getting lots and lots of rain (on the other hand we do need it) but as a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer it would seem like a bad idea to photograph anything while very gloomy/rainy weather, especially listings for real estate agents. Although I have had photographed in the past not only in raining season but also in snow, fog and other bad situations where the weather is not really cooperating for the best photos. Yes it is true that having good sunny weather is the best time to do exterior photos but in reality it’s impossible to have great weather all the time. For that reason I am very skilled in photoshop were replacing the sky is necessary to deliver great photos to all my agents, because the end result could play a major factor in the sale of the home. So this post is to show how the listings could look like with and without great blue sky as well as if the sky is not perfect during sunny weather.

And here’s a comparison when the sky is almost blue and there is some sunshine but needs a bit more interest in the photos, because sometimes the sky is just not right for the image.

Dusk Photography by Sacramento Real Estate Photographer

Sacramento Real Estate Photographer

Since I have been so busy with Sacramento Real Estate Photography in reality its very hard to keep up with social media and especially writing blogs. So for this post while I have few minutes to spare I will be very short and wanted to talk about dusk photography for real estate. Some time ago during summer an agent asked me what makes me different from other photographers in the area of dusk photos. Well it’s not easy to explain and for that purpose I am writing this blog post to show what I do to get the image as you have seen at the top. With that said I will have to mention; I do not put the same amount of technics or the style which I do for architectural photography (architectural firm, contractors and so on) due to few other reasons. As a Sacramento Real Estate Photographer it’s all about how quickly I can get the photos to the agent (which is a big requirement) as well as it’s all about the home (to show what it is and make it stand out on the MLS). No I will not downgrade my skills while photographing or post processing, but the techniques for architectural photography would be different; with more time not only to shoot but also to process the photos to perfection. Now feel free to take a look at the short video below to see what I do when photographing a home at dusk.

Before and After a Sacramento Real Estate Photography

In Sacramento Real Estate Photography I get to see plenty of homes not only the ones that I photograph but also the ones that are online when looking for agents. Yes, before contacting the agent for the first time I do use online resources to its full potential. Looking at what they had in the past and the present gives me an idea if I should be reaching out the the agent for real estate photography services.

This blog post is all about before and after. Now I do have an online gallery where anyone can see before and after photos (click HERE to that gallery), and you can see anything from HDR software, to smartphone photos, and what Shutter Avenue Photography can do. Although this is more about regular price homes and two examples which both agents used a smartphone or DSLR prior to me delivering them better photos of their listing. Take a look at the images below to see for yourself why hiring a photographer can make a big difference for your listings. Sample images below are only a few photos which are very similar to what the agent photographed of the same listing.

Sample Home #1 (Agent Used a Smartphone)

Sample Home #2 (Agent Used a DSLR)
