Alexander and Kenya Wedding Photography by Shutter Avenue Photography

Its very interesting how things work, because at the beginning of this year I was contact by Kenya to photograph her upcoming wedding. Here’s a little bit of a background of why I said what I just said. I know Kenya from a long time ago, about 3 years ago I have photographed Kenya for her profile pictures at UC Davis Campus, and honestly I haven’t heard from here ever since. But when she has contacted me regarding her wedding I was surprised not because she is getting married but that she contacted me after all these years.

That’s just a little bit of a background of how I know Kenya, but I wanted to talk about Alexander and Kenya wedding. I loved their wedding. It was simple and very different from everyday wedding. Yes it had similar patterns of a typical wedding but it also had lots of surprises and easy going. I don’t know if I could put my finger on what what my favorite part of the wedding was because there was mamba dances, fire dances, and Alexander and Kenya was great couple to photograph. So here are few images from the wedding, enjoy;

New and Improved Logo Design by TwoTone Creative

So I wanted to talk about something new. Yet for some of you, you have noticed it already but I still want to make an announcement about it. What am I talking about? Its the new logo design for my business.

Logo Design for Shutter Avenue Photography

Some time just before end of last year I got to talk to a wonderful person who designs logos and not only logos but she and her partner does very good job at web designs, cards and much more. Who am I talking about? Well its Jenny Cross from TwoTone Creative. Jenny did a great job because I was looking for a very versatile log design since I am now not only going to be photographing weddings, portraits, but also architecture and real estate. This did make me wonder how would this be possible because one field is completely opposite from another. Yet this did not stop Jenny from creating something this good and with a clear message in the logo + text.

So check out their website here and also like their page on Facebook.

Jenny thank you for your hard work and creating something this great with me being so difficult at times =) I appreciate from the bottom of my heart of what you have done and looking forward working with you and your company in the near future.

Jeremy and Allison Wedding Photos | Denver Wedding Photographer

In late June this year I had an opportunity to photograph a wedding of a wonderful couple Jeremy and Allison. The gorgeous wedding happened at Green Valley Country Club which only amplified the beauty and the happiness of this couple at the day of their wedding. I loved being part of their wedding and experiencing the happiness, excitement, and the love that Jeremy and Allison had for each other at their wedding. Their bridal party was a lot of fun to photograph and be be around. I loved that Jeremy’s dad was the priest and the sermon that he gave during their ceremony, in my books it was really good. Their wedding reception was just rocking out of this world thanks to the DJ “The E-Team”, and its is sad that the time flew so fast that day but their wedding was a blast.

Yet I would like to talk more about Jeremy and Allison, because something that I like to do is ask couples questions not only for me but so the readers of this blog site would know a bit more about the couple. So without any other delays here’s what Jeremy and Allison shared with me.

Allison, how did you guys meet? And what made you fall in love with Jeremy?

Jeremy and I met at a bowling alley. I saw a group of guys and thought, “Oh he’s cute! I’m gonna talk to that one!” From the very start Jeremy and my relationship has been so easy and fun. It was easy to fall in love with his accepting and loving personality. Neither of us ever questioned how much the other cared from them. We always seem to be in sync. Plus who could not love that smile!

Jeremy what made you fall in love with Allison?

She has a wonderful personality and very similar if not same family value. Lastly and most of all she is beautiful!

How did you feel Jeremy waiting on Allison right before she walked down the aisle?

I was very excited. Not nervous at all because I know she is right for me.

How did you feel Allison walking down the aisle?

Just before coming out to the aisle I was nervous and a little irritated my DJ had messed up and I didn’t want to be crying in all my photos. The moment I stepped outside and saw Jeremy all I could see was that amazing smile! Then there was just this rush of excitement and love!

Which part of the wedding was most favorite for you guys?

Jeremy: See my beautiful wife walking the aisle toward me. And I get to see my old family and old friends, who are from out of state.

Allison: My favorite part of the wedding was our first dance. Jeremy and I had practiced a small routine for months and we pulled it off perfectly. It felt good to impress everyone and show what a good team we make.

If you guys would give any advice to the future brides and grooms, what would it be?

Jeremy: 1 – If you love her, don’t be nervous on the wedding day! 2 – Have as much fun as possible, because the wedding is one time thing … unless you plan on getting married few time!

Allison: The advice I would give would be from some advice I heard while planning and stressing about my own wedding. Your wedding, while important, is just a party. As long as at the end of the day you are married to the person you love, everything was perfect! Oh and hire Stan to do your photos because mine were perfect!!!

10 Things Bride Should Not Forget | Denver Wedding Photographer

Denver Wedding Photographer

Over the time that I have photographed wedding I have noticed lots of patterns and mistakes that happen during a wedding this is my list of things that every bride should consider when preparing for that big wedding day. If you have this done already good for you and you should just probably worry and get other things done but if you haven’t make a check list yet then read on and see if these 10 thing would be helpful to you for your wedding.

1 – Beautiful Hanger

Most of the time when I photograph a wedding dress by it self before the bride puts it on the dress is beautiful but the hanger is plastic or wire and it does ruin the photo in some way. So consider a wooden or custom made hanger for not only better photos but as if custom hanger for memories to come.

2 – Cosmetics

Now I know that every bride does her make-up before the ceremony but what most brides forget is to freshen up after the ceremony, or freshen up for the photos, as well as freshen up just before the reception starts.

3 – Hotel Check-In

This applies to all the brides (and grooms) who are staying in a hotel the night after the wedding. Make sure that you (or assign someone) to call the hotel to let them know when you should be arriving. This way the hotels will make sure they have cold champagne and chocolate ready for you. Also a good idea is to have someone from the wedding to take your suitcases to the hotel (if its not far) so you will not have to worry about that after the wedding.

4 – Confortable shoes

This is important, I have photographed many wedding and I could tell why the bride is not at the dance floor but tries to sit at some table chatting. Or sometimes the bride would just hang out by the bar, in the end a bride which has been in the same shoes all day is tired from walking. I know that the shoes look pretty and it was a good idea to have them but it is also a good idea to pack a confortable shoes. So when the evening starts, slip-in them and you will be good to go for the rest of the evening.

5 – Water

It would be last on anybodies list but in reality this should be almost first. Brides most of the time play a host to everyone at the wedding and forget about themselves until the dinner starts. So drink plenty of water, this would be beneficial for your body, you will not be as tired, or worn down. Yet the downfall comes that you will have to use the restroom more often. Now speaking of alcohol, yes that considers as water (in some ways) but try to hold of until dinner because if you get drunk before dinner you will be even more tired before the wedding even started. By the way this is a must if you have a wedding in summer when its hot outside.

6 – Eat

Now I talked about water but also dont forget to have snacks or eat good breakfast before. Most of the time the bride is busy with making sure that with last minue pres and so on that they forget the dinner will be served hours and hours late so to eat a good breakfast and have snacks in between is a must. You will be less tired and your body will be re-energized so you will be not only thinking straight but also ready for anything that might happen during the wedding.

7- Prepare for take-off

I mean in the sense if you are flying to your honeymoon destination, make sure that you have the passports and driving ticket in your luggage a day before the wedding. This way you will not need to panic and  make a scene the day of your wedding in front of your parents and bridesmaid. Also a good idea is to sign up for text alerts so after the wedding all you have to do is just check your phone and see if there has been any changes to your flight.

8 – Emergency

Make sure a week before the wedding to create a small emergency kit. I can not tell you enough when a bride needs of something like bandaids and there are none around (now someone will need to go to the store and by some) it becomes a stress environment to be in. And this might not happen to the bride, yet I have see also where bridesmaid would have a headache and there is no aspen or tylenol. Again pack an emergency kit and put it with your wedding shoes that way you will not forget it later.

9 – Go to person

This doesn’t have to be a one of the bridesmaids but it should be someone you know. This helps because when something is needed this person can quickly bring something for you and not just assign a person randomly during a wedding. So talk to someone you know before the wedding and assign them to be around you during the wedding or at least not far from you.

10 – Time Out!!!

I have left this one to the end not because its not important but because its the most important. The bride and groom get caught up in the wedding so much that they forget that this is a day about them. So take at least 10-15 mins to yourselves, tell your photographer, wedding party and everyone else to take a hike. Trust me, after you will spend few minutes alone together with no one around you will see that it make all the difference in the world.
